“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” Genesis 1:1

The God of the Bible is the One who calls things into existence (Romans 4:17). He spoke and the world came into being. Since that moment He has never stopped creating! Flowers still bloom, the sunrise still brings light to the dark sky and every day He breathes life into this world.

It is God’s desire to fulfill His WORD in your life and to see you increase with blessing (Jeremiah 1:12). This is an amazing thought. The same God who brought forth the earth and everything in it desires to bring forth the blessings of His WORD in your life. Here’s how it works, when you focus on decrease, He focuses on increase! (John 3:30).

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I ask You today to fulfill Your WORD in my life. I choose to “decrease” my own desires, wishes and dreams to make room for your “increase” of revelation, provision and completion. You have never stopped creating and I ask that You create in me a clean heart, and place within me the ability to see you as my Source. In Jesus name, Amen.

“The heavens are Yours, and Yours also the earth; You founded the world and all that is in it.” Psalms 89:11

God can be trusted. He built the world and everything in it. He is the Chief Engineer and understands how it all works. In God there are no surprises, no mistakes, no mishaps and no faulty designs.

Why not allow God to build into you a life-giving plan that honors Him? He has a plan that will cause you to live in abundance. All He requires is that you throw your every concern on Him, because He cares so much for you (1 Peter 5:7).

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I trust you today, with the big and the small things in my life. Since You are the Master Builder I place my confidence in You. I will no longer strive to achieve notoriety or pleasures for myself. From now on my life will be about You and Your ways. In Jesus name, Amen.

“As long as the earth endures, seed-time and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease.” Genesis 8:22

God makes sure that what He created continues to operate. He is the great Sustainer. This is the great promise of continued blessing. God is not about a short-term, one-time blessings. Those who follow Him can expect continual, abundant and ever-flowing blessing. There are no half empty or partially fulfilled promises from God. He personally guarantees that what He began in your life will be completed! (Philippians 1:6)

Prayer: Dear Lord, You are trustworthy! What you began yesterday, You will sustain today and provide for tomorrow. Help me to build my trust in Your WORD and my confidence in Your character. You are dependable and You have promised to sustain me in every circumstance. I will trust in You. In Jesus name, Amen.

“For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever.” Romans 11:36

God is the Originator. Before Him there was nothing. In fact, every good and perfect gift continues to come from Him (James 1:17). Since He is the beginning and the end, God knows your needs even before you have them and He already has the answers, too! He was, He is and is to Come!

Even difficult circumstances can become moments of rejoicing and expectation when you choose to be dependent on God to provide. Why not make a conscious effort today and give God the credit? Thank Him for the many ways in which your needs are already being met.

Prayer: God, you are my Provider. I give you credit today for the provision I do have. Since you are the Originator and the continual Creator I can also trust You to meet my every need as I follow you. In Jesus name, Amen.

“The silver is mine and the gold is mine, says the Lord Almighty.” Haggai 2:8

The way to live free from debt and the entanglement of our materialistic world is to yield ownership of what you have back to God. After all, He already owns it and He has plans to prosper you with it! When you instead allow God to shoulder the responsibility for your daily needs God will do for you what only He can do – He is the great provider. Safe within His care you will be free to follow Jesus and His Word, putting into practice a lifestyle that reflects honoring God, enjoying His provision and having enough left over to be a blessing to others.

Prayer: Dear Lord, Today I yield back the ownership and responsibility of my life and my possessions to you. Rather than attempting to be “in charge” over every complexity, I ask You to help me to learn to follow Your instructions and to trust in Your ways. They are higher and better than mine (Isaiah 55:9). In Jesus name, Amen.

“The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.” Psalms 24:1

Knowing that God owns it all brings great comfort. He is firmly in control and commits to share His blessings with all who follow Him. When you choose to live each day with God as your Source He promises to provide for your every need according to His riches in Christ Jesus (Phil. 4:13)

Prayer: Lord, today I recognize you as the Source and Solution for my life. Help me to step away from the scarcity and stress that follow my own efforts and choose instead to be totally dependent on You to meet my needs. You are a like well that never runs dry and I trust you to be my provider. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Every day you and I are given the incredible privilege of making a Jesus “imprint” in the world around us. Through a kind word, an act of mercy or a gesture of grace we share His love. But what if God’s desire for us was to be and do more. More? Yes more.

What if deep within each of us is a destiny to do more than share the Good News? What if we were actually destined to expand the work of Jesus and His Kingdom in the world?

When Jesus gave His followers instructions to make disciples of all peoples He was asking them to re-create for others the abundant life that He had given them. Real abundant life is so much more than just “words.” It is about the ability to be generous in every way in all occasions. It is about living free in a world that is filled with entanglements.

For the next 31 Days you and I are going to journey through God’s Word to discover what it means to “Live Free.” As you meditate on each day’s truths, you will discover Scriptures that focus the “imprint” you were designed to make, life-changing principles to shape your destiny in the days to come, and simple, but powerful prayers to help guide your day.

“You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion.” 2 Corinthians 9:11

The headlines have bombarded us this week with news of bailouts, bombings and the debate. On Friday night at 9 pm I was in a noisy airport waiting room filled with travellers trying to get home (I had gone for the day to meet with friends who were committed to help my friend Ramesh in Nepal).

When the debate between Sen. Obama and Sen. McCain came on the room fell silent and all eyes turned toward the television. No one moved unless it was time for their plane depart. We all wanted to see what their answers were.

I was struck by the reality that no one admitted to ask God what His answers were for the situation we are in. That is why we need Sunday. It is a chance to pull back, to listen and to align ourselves to His answers and to walk forward into our week confident that the One who created the earth is still in control.

Can’t wait to worship today with our family!

We cannot escape the presence of God. No matter how hard we try to flee from His presence, He remains closer to us than the air around us. Jonah spent a lot of money and energy in trying to get away from God and His purposes. But God made it clear that He will never leave or forsake us.

Heavenly Father, forgive me when I try to escape Your presence. Help me to accept Your plans and purposes for me. Give me the strength to say no to what I want and yes to Your ways. Your ways are better. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
