With God, there is more than enough

November 2, 2008

“The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.” Psalms 24:1

Knowing that God owns it all brings great comfort.  He is firmly in control and commits to share His blessings with all who follow Him.  When you choose to live each day with God as your Source He promises to provide for your every need according to His riches in Christ Jesus (Phil. 4:13)

Prayer: Lord, today I recognize you as the Source and Solution for my life.  Help me to step away from the scarcity and stress that follow my own efforts and choose instead to be totally dependent on You to meet my needs.  You are a like well that never runs dry and I trust you to be my provider.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Living Free

November 1, 2008

Every day you and I are given the incredible privilege of making a Jesus “imprint” in the world around us.  Through a kind word, an act of mercy or a gesture of grace we share His love. But what if God’s desire for us was to be and do more. More?  [Read more]

Applying God’s WORD brings His purposes into reality

October 5, 2008

Scripture:  “Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.”  (Proverbs 19:21)

No doubt you have heard the words of the 18th century Scottish Poet, Robert Burns, “the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry.”  Why is this so?  It is simply because we have limited resources, limited views and a limited capacity.  Our plans often just don’t work out.

But “with God all things are possible.” (Luke 1:37)  When we choose to apply God’s WORD to our ideals something amazing happens. Our weak attempts to find solutions become infused with God’s wisdom and revelation.  His WORD prevails.

Prayer:  Heavenly Father, your WORD is true and filled with wisdom.  I pray today that the feebleness of my own plans would be strengthened, shaped and guided by the power of your WORD. May your good and abundant purposes begin to work in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God’s WORD provides focus and instruction to our lives

October 4, 2008

Scripture: “Hold on to instruction, do not let it go; guard it well, for it is your life.” (Proverbs 4:13)

Surviving the twists and turns of life without God’s WORD is as difficult as driving without directions!  It is easy to get lost, drive in circles, or even worse, reach a dead end.

How fortunate we are to have been given a roadmap that provides practical instruction and wisdom for every circumstance that may come our way. We can count on God’s WORD to be our true source of wisdom and direction.

Abundant Life Springs from a Protected Heart and a Pure Mouth

October 3, 2008

Scripture: “Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.  Put away perversity from your mouth; keep corrupt talk from your lips.”  (Proverbs 4:23-24)

What does wisdom suggest our top priority should be?  It is to guard our hearts.  When coarse conversation, negative thoughts or desiring eyes distract us from following Jesus, our hearts become filled with unhealthy and non-producing fuel for life.  How can you and I tell if we are putting the right fuel into our minds and spirits?  Jesus described it simply when He said, “Out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks.” (Matthew 12:34)

Your Conversation Shapes Your Destiny

October 1, 2008

How can you and I change our conversation so that it shapes our destiny in the right direction?  Jesus gave us the solution when He said, “out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks.” (Matthew 12:34)

Prayer: Lord, today I accept the challenge to allow Your Holy WORD to mold my heart and shape my conversations. I know that my daily commitment to speak Your Word over my circumstances will build a habit that will, in turn, under gird my heart, my thought life and my conversation with others.  My destiny is in your hands.   In Jesus’ name, Amen!

Daily Insight: God’s Heart is Love

September 30, 2008

Jonah 4:10-11 “But the LORD said, “You have been concerned about this vine, though you did not tend it or make it grow. It sprang up overnight and died overnight. But Nineveh has more than a hundred and twenty thousand people who cannot tell their right hand from their left, and many cattle as well. Should I not be concerned about that great city?”

God’s heart breaks with love for those who have chosen a path of self-destruction.  His invitation to be with Him connects us to His love and mercy and restores our joy as we watch Him work.

Eternal Father, Your heart is filled with love for me and for every other person who has chosen a path of self-destruction.  Forgive me Lord for being overly focused on my own ‘issues’ and neglecting Your mission.  Rescue me from self-desctruction and deliver me into Your hands. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Daily Insight: Learning about God and Ourselves

September 29, 2008

Jonah 4:9 “But God said to Jonah, “Do you have a right to be angry about the vine?” “I do,” he said. “I am angry enough to die.”

God never accuses us, but He does lead us to a place where we can be restored. Even in times when our shortcomings are glaringly obvious to Him and others, God never leaves us to fend for ourselves.

Loving Father, You know me – when I sit, when I walk and when I fall.  Because of Your amazing love You long for me to find hope in You and with You in Your mission. Cover me with Your love and forgive me of my faults. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Daily Insight: God Loves Even when We do not

September 28, 2008

Jonah 4:7-8 “But at dawn the next day God provided a worm, which chewed the vine so that it withered. When the sun rose, God provided a scorching east wind, and the sun blazed on Jonah’s head so that he grew faint. He wanted to die, and said, “It would be better for me to die than to live.”

God knows us at the core of our being. There is nothing that we can hide from Him.  Out of His great love for us God gently and consistently removes obstacles that keep us from joining Him on His great mission of redemption.

Gracious Father, You are good.  You know when my heart recoils from Your love and choose a self-destructive path.  I ask today that You would remove obstacles from my path so that I can fully love You.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Daily Insight: God Cares

September 27, 2008

Jonah 4:6 “Then the LORD God provided a vine and made it grow up over Jonah to give shade for his head to ease his discomfort, and Jonah was very happy about the vine.”

God cares for us in every moment of our lives.  His nature is to provide comfort and care in the hopes that the lavishing of His goodness will lead us back to Him. (Romans 2:4)

Loving and Caring Father,  How gracious You are to me each and every day. You see when I am filled with hope and when the cares of this world drown out my joy.  Today I turn to You as the one who begins and sustains all the good that comes my way. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
