God’s Word Brings LIFE!

December 14, 2008

“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any double edged sword.” Hebrews 4:12

The Gift: Thank God for His WORD. It is alive and always at work in our world.  God watches over His word to see that it fulfills His intentions and plans (Jer. 1:12).  The best decision you can make today is to align yourself to the power of His good word.

Prayer: Dear Lord, Your WORD is true, righteous, more valuable than gold and life-changing.  I promise today to commit to obey Your WORD and allow its truth to breath life into me.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Hold Firmly to God’s Rest

December 13, 2008

“Let us make every effort to enter that rest [in God] so that no one will fall by following an example of disobedience.” Hebrews 4:11

The Gift: God grants both the present tense and eternal rest to those who “hide” in Him.  It is a simple process that combines a denial of selfish ambition and a choice to live in the contentment that comes in worshiping the true and living God.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I come to You in the name and character of your Eternal Son, Jesus.  Grant me real “rest” today, not a retreat away from the busyness of my life.  I need to find You and to “hide” in You in the middle of my harried life.  I need Your rest. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Encourage One Another Daily

December 12, 2008

“Encourage one another daily, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.” Hebrews 3:13

The Gift: An encouraging word is a powerful antidote from the hardness and deceitfulness of sin. Sharing an encouraging word brings strength to others and helps to create a place of real and authentic community.

Prayer: Dear Father, Your grace and mercy are such an encouragement to me.  I will meditate today on Your words, and I commit to become an encouraging voice to those around me.  Help me to shine your love in this way to others.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Keep Your Heart Tender Toward God and Others

December 11, 2008

“See to it, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God.” Hebrews 3:12

The Gift: God has designed you with a tender heart that is made to be responsive to Him and to others.  When your heart is moved with issues that touch God’s heart – caring for others, living with integrity and loving the undeserved – you experience a surge of His presence. But when your heart is crusted over by the cares of this world, it becomes de-sensitized to God.

Prayer: Dear Father, I come to today asking You to tenderize my heart.  Increase my compassion toward others and help me to recognize Your work in their lives.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Jesus is Above it All

December 9, 2008

“Jesus has been found worthy of greater honor than Moses, just as the builder of a house has greater honor than the house itself.” Hebrews 3:3

The Gift: Jesus, as God, is greater than the moral code He gave, and greater than Moses, the prophet who handed out the law to God’s people.  We can rejoice when our actions fail to meet the standard of righteousness, because it proves we need a Savior!

Prayer: Dear Father, Thank you for sending Your son Jesus to forgive me of my sins.  When I fall short of the moral laws you have given, I am grateful that Jesus accepts me, forgives me and cleanses me from all unrighteousness. Today I will cling to Him.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Fix Your Thoughts on Jesus

December 8, 2008

“Fix your thoughts on Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we confess.” Hebrews 3:1

The Gift: There is only One who was sent from God to save us from our sins.  Jesus.  There is no other way to be saved from the evils of this world and the next. He is the gift already purchased for You and waiting for your acceptance.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, I ask that You would forgive me. Beginning today, I will turn the attention of my heart away from career, approval from others, financial success and other diversions.  Instead, I will fix my thoughts on Jesus and find the hope and salvation that I long for. Thank You for the gift of life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

The Son of God is Superior to the Angels

December 6, 2008

“[Jesus] became much superior to the angels as the name He has inherited is superior to theirs.” Hebrews 1:4, 6-9

The Gift: Seated at the right hand of the Eternal God, Jesus maintains a privileged and superior position to all other spiritual beings.  He is God, the Radiant Son, the eternal Sacrifice, the constant Mediator and He is Superior to all other angels and spirits.

Prayer: Dear Father in Heaven, Your Son Jesus is matchless. He is the beginning and the end, the one who was, is and is to come.  It is in Him that I find forgiveness and peace.  Thank Your for such an incredible gift of life! I will treasure my relationship with Him forever. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Jesus is the Exact Representation of God

December 4, 2008

“The Son of God is the exact representation of His being.” Hebrews 1:3

The Gift: Ever wonder what God is really like?  His character, nature or just how He might respond to your feelings or circumstances? You can know the answer because the real historical person Jesus is the exact representation of God. Everything about Jesus is true, real and equals God.

The Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, I am so grateful that You have made yourself evident, clear and real to me through the gift of Your Son, Jesus.  Today I commit to learn about You from studying Your Word and discover the nature and character of Your Son.  I ask that You would make Yourself real to me.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Jesus is the Radiance of God

December 3, 2008

“The Son [Jesus] is the radiance of God’s glory.” Hebrews 1:3

The Gift: As the true light of the world, Jesus radiates the beauty and presence of God.  Wherever, Jesus is there can be no darkness, no sadness or rejection.  The brightness of His love reveals the glory of God to all who see.

Prayer: Father in heaven, shine the light of Your Son on me today and dispel the darkness of sadness and confusion. I ask that you brighten my day with Your glorious and eternal presence. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God Speaks Through His Son

December 2, 2008

“In these last days He has spoken to us by his Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, and through whom He made the universe.” Hebrews 1:2

The Gift: God is real and can be known through the revelation of His only Son, Jesus Christ.  As the inheritor of all good and as the creator of the universe Jesus demonstrates to us the goodness and blessings of an ever-loving God.  We hear God through the voice of His son.

Prayer: Thank you, Eternal Father, for revealing Your nature and character through the life of Your Son, Jesus. It is through Him that my days are filled with life and strengthened with hope.  He is not only the creator of the vast universe but Jesus is also the incredible Savior of my own soul. Thank you for the gift of Your Son. Amen.
