Small Group Signups January 10th and 17th

January 9, 2010

The new year brings new opportunities to forge friendships that last a lifetime. On Sunday, January 10th and 17th, we will have Small Group signups from 10:30 am to 11:00 am to give those who call Greenbrier Church home an opportunity to find their place to “connect in”. We are offering 30 small groups this winter/spring 2010.

Pray and ask God which small group you should join. This is a safe place to grow your faith and share your gifts with family. Don’t miss this opportunity to discover new friends. Any questions, contact Pastor Curtis @ 819-1070.

How do you build friendships in small groups?

October 5, 2009

First Corinthians 13:4-8a makes a wonderful group study. It names the fifteen characteristics of love. Master these characteristics and your group will build lasting friendships.

A friend is patient. He under-speaks, he over-listens.
A friend is kind. He under-assumes, he over-clarifies.
A friend doesn’t envy. He’s content with what he has, and wishes others the same.
A friend doesn’t boast. He knows God alone is on the throne.
A friend isn’t proud. He approaches people not with “Here I am” but “there you are”!
A friend isn’t rude. He sees others not as things to be used but as people to be loved.
A friend isn’t self-seeking. He demands fairness and equality for others but never for himself.
A friend isn’t easily angered. He asks the Lord to wash away malice and brings forgiveness and peace.
A friend keeps no record of wrongs. He just repays the wrongdoer with deeds of kindness.
A friend doesn’t delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. He seeks openness, to know and be known.
A friend always protects. His love covers all his friend’s misdeeds.
A friend always trusts. He is responsible for and accountable to.
A friend always hopes. During tough times, he’s optimistic.
A friend always perseveres. He under-promises, he over-delivers.
A friend never fails. He’s Christ-like!

Small Groups @ Greenbrier – August 16th and 23rd

August 11, 2009

It is that time of year! We will be launching our Small Groups @ Greenbrier over the next two Sundays, August 16th and 23rd. Three out of four adults join a small group each year. Small Groups are a place for our members and attendees to “plug in” to what God is doing in our midst. It says in Hebrews 10:25, “Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another-and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”

Life is filled with God’s blessings so why not share it with others. We want to be known in our community as a church that loves God and one another. A great place to do both is in Small Groups.

Life is about relationships. At Greenbrier, we want to do life together. Being part of a network of good friends can provide one with the strength, confidence, and joy needed to carry out our personal and corporate callings in Christ. We all need to be in relationship and fellowship with God and each other.

Here’s the challenge: 1) check out all the small groups offered @ Greenbrier in the booklet provided on August 16th; 2) choose the top three small groups you’d like to attend; 3) come find out more about the groups on August 16th and 23rd from 10:30 am to 11:00 am in the Fellowship Hall; 4) pick one, sign up, make new friends, and grow in your walk with God!

Monday night update!

July 21, 2009

Just a reminder – and an invitation.  We will soon start a new summer series consisting of sample teachings of some of the best women Bible teachers and leaders today.  What a great way to get to hear what God is doing through women’s ministries across our country.  Better yet, it’s a great opportunity to get together with new and old friends right here at Greenbrier!
Following a 2 week break, the series will start fresh on Monday, August 3, and continues for 6 weeks. There is no homework involved, just a short DVD and a time of discussion and prayer.
We begin promptly at 6:30 in the church conference room (beside the church offices) and end at 8:30 sharp. We have been so blessed by our Monday night gatherings for some time now and pray that God will lead you to come out and become part of what He is doing among women in our fellowship.  All that’s missing is you!

July 5, 2009

This is just the study you’re looking for to keep up with the lazy days of summer!
