We are in the final planning stages for what we believe will be a wonderful event for our neighbors and friends to experience. Visitors to Bethlehem will have an opportunity to speak with shepherds, register for the census, sample some bread made in the bakery, visit the Bethlehem Market Shops, and learn some behind the scenes information from some folks who were around in Bethlehem at the time of Jesus’s birth. The event will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday, December 7th-8th. Gates will open at 6PM. Bethlehem….It’s more than just a song!

We are asking each small group to bring in toiletry items that we will collect and donate to a local shelter for women and children in the Tidewater Area. The items that we need can be “Travel Size” or from the Dollar Store. Each age group will be collecting a different type of toiletry item and here is the breakdown!

4 Year Old and Kindergartners: Stuff to help SMELL better! Deodorant and Wash Cloths etc.

1st and 2nd Graders: Stuff for the SKIN! Soaps, Lotions, Hand Sanitizers, etc.

3rd Graders: Stuff for the MOUTH! Tooth Paste, Tooth Brushes, Mouth Wash, etc.

4th and 5th Graders: Stuff for the HAIR! Brushes, Combs, Shampoos, Conditioners, etc.

We’re going to have a friendly competition to see which small group can bring in the highest number of items by the end of the month. November 28th will be the cut off date. The winning class will receive Tropical Smoothie’s for their whole small group! So, help your child by starting to send in those donations THIS WEEK!

We are looking forward to showing the kids how God UNIQUELY prepares us to join with others to do great things for His Kingdom! Thank you for allowing us the privilege to minister to your children each and every week. It is a true pleasure.

It’s time for the annual Greenbrier Church Harvest Festival! Mosey on down to Greenbrier Church on Sunday, October 31st from 6 pm – 8 pm. If you are in 5th grade or younger, we have some awesome fun planned for you! Hay Rides, Hot Dogs, Popcorn, Sno-Kones, Outdoor Bounce Houses and Inflatables, Indoor Games and candy galore!! We’ll have balls knocking over milk bottles, darts popping balloons, ducks in the duck pond and kids having a blast all over the place! And did I mention the candy? LOTS OF IT!

Tell your parents that you just HAVE to come by! We look forward to seeing you there! Stop by and check us out!

This month in Power Kids we are focusing on the virtue of INITIATIVE ~ SEEing what needs to be done and DOing it. On Sunday we told the kids about a project that lets them SEE a problem and DO something about it.

During our BIG GROUP time on Sunday we showed the kids pictures of children who are in need; who either had no shoes or yucky shoes…children with no coats or warm clothing. We wanted them to SEE that there is a problem right here in our community!

We have asked each child to get a shoebox from home and fill it with a new or gently-used pair of kids shoes or kid’s outerwear garment and bring it back to church by Sunday, October 24. Please make sure the item is in a shoe or boot box because we are going to use the boxes for something VERY SPECIAL on that Sunday. The kids are going to DO something about a problem that they SEE.

We will be donating all the items to a local shelter so that the children will be better equipped once the weather turns colder. Thank you so much for helping to show your child how he/she can not only learn about a big word like INITIATIVE but put it into practice for the Kingdom of God!!
