The time of Joseph will come alive July 25th through 28th at Greenbrier Church! We are planning an incredible journey back through Bible times as we lead the kids through the faith filled life of Joseph. Register on line now by clicking the VBS REGISTRATION link under “Latest News” on the Greenbrier Church Home Page.

“Joseph’s Journey from Prison to Palace” will begin on Sunday, July 25th at 5:00 pm and continue Monday July 26th through Wednesday July 28th at 6:00 pm. Hey Kids! I hope you have been out enjoying all this snow! What a special treat! I wanted to make sure you tell your parents that you need to come to our special Wednesday edition of PowerKids tomorrow night, February 3rd. We will be wrapping up the virtue of DISCIPLINE and Mr. Christian is planning a great story time for you! He has been training extra hard for this one!

Tomorrow evening at 7:00, come to the PowerKids rooms just like you would on a Sunday morning. We’ll all be there to greet you and get you prepared for a really awesome time! See you tomorrow night!

Lil’ Brier Christmas Choir Practice and Info

The Lil’ Brier Christmas Choir will practice tonight, Wednesday December 2 and next Wednesday, December 9 from 7:00 -7:30 PM. The choir will be sharing their songs at both services on Sunday, December 13. Elisabeth Martin is directing the group this year. You can contact her at 490-5858 for more information.

A Night in Bethlehem -Coming soon!

We are in the final planning stages for what we believe will be a wonderful event for our neighbors and friends to experience. Visitors to Bethlehem will have an opportunity to speak with shepherds, register for the census, sample some bread made in the bakery, visit the Bethlehem Market Shops, and learn some behind the scenes information from some folks who were around in Bethlehem at the time of Jesus birth. The event will take place on Wednesday, December 16. Gates will open at 6PM. If you would like more information or would especially be interested in serving on the team of volunteers to pull it all together please contact Sheri Gaughan at 819-1070 or sherigaughan@greenbrierchurch.com. PowerKids are Moving Up!

This Sunday, August 23rd, is MOVE UP SUNDAY for the PowerKids at Greenbrier Church! What that means is that our awesome kids will be moving up in their small groups at the 9:00 AM PowerKids church to match the grade level they will be entering this school year!

If you have a child who is 4 years old or entering Kindergarten this fall, they will be staying in their current small group room.

If you have a child entering 1st grade, they will be MOVING UP to the 1st and 2nd Grade Room.

If you have a child entering 2nd grade, they will stay in their current small group room with a new status as “the older kids!”

If you have a child entering 3rd grade, they will be MOVING UP to a new small group in the 3rd Grade Room.

If you have a child entering the 4th or 5th grade, they will be MOVING UP to a new small group in the 4th and 5th Grade Room.

We will have signs posted through out the PowerKids wing this Sunday to assist you in finding the right room! If you have questions, look for an adult wearing a yellow POWERKIDS shirt. We’ll be glad to assist!

We are looking forward to a year packed with fun and excitement as we learn more about the incredible Power of God! It’s available to our kids right here and now…not just when they get older…and it’s a privilege to help unveil this truth to this generation. And I almost forgot to mention…we have a blast in the process!

There’s No Place Like Rome…

That’s why we want your children – ages 4 years to 5th grade – to join us for an exciting Bible-times adventure with the Underground Church in Ancient Rome! We will be creating the Roman Empire…right here in our church! Our journey begins on Sunday, July 26th at 5:00 p.m. We will “roam” in Rome until 8:00 that evening and be back Monday morning at 9:00 to continue the adventure! Monday, July 27th through Wednesday, July 29th we will meet from 9:00 until Noon. On Wednesday the 29th, please plan to join us for a Roman Open House at 11:00 a.m. so that the parents can step back into Roman times and see what their children have been experiencing all week!

Experience Rome! VBS 2009!

This summer, you can become part of living history by being a part of our Vacation Bible School. This year, we’re going back to Roman times where the Apostle Paul is under house arrest – chained to a Roman guard! Have you ever wondered what it was like to sneak away from Roman guards? How did it feel to be one of the very first Christians? The children will become a part of history as they see, hear, touch and even taste what it was like to live in Rome during this exciting time!

They will explore authentic Marketplace shops, actually visit Paul and hear his teachings, sneak to the cave where the Underground Church meets, take part in ancient Roman games, dance to lively Bible songs, and sample tasty tidbits as they discover more about the early church. These experiences make God’s Word come alive with new meaning for all who participate!

The adventure will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 26th and will continue Monday through Wednesday, July 27th-29th from 9:00 a.m. to Noon. VBS is for children 4 years old through 5th grade; but, your whole family is welcome to join in the fun! And there is no charge for this incredible event!

GET READY FOR EGG GATHERING!!

If you have children between the ages of 1 and 10, please plan to come and enjoy a really fun time at the Community Easter Egg Hunt – this Saturday morning, April 11th from 10:00 to 11:30! We will have refreshments, prizes and a puppet show to be enjoyed by kids of ALL ages! Come and see a truly memorable re-enactment of the most amazing event in history and why Easter Sunday is something we should remember every day of the year!

After the puppet show, we will have an action-packed Egg Hunt with 2,000 eggs to be found; so, be sure to bring your friends, too! If you need more information or want to pre-register, please call the church at 819-1070 and get ready for a fun time!

Hmmmm…that’s Puzzling!

A new month and a new virtue for the PowerKids of Greenbrier Church! For the month of March…it’s all about HOPE and believing that something good can come out of something bad. We all know that things can seem pretty hopeless at times – for kids and parents alike! When things happen that we just aren’t expecting – and it can be something huge like losing a loved one to something relatively small like having a piece to a puzzle that doesn’t fit…these are the times that we need HOPE.

Last Sunday, we heard about a time when Paul really had to have HOPE and believe that whatever happened, God had a plan. We were taken through a really STORMY time with Paul…and boy, did it ever get stormy in that PowerKids Room…but Paul held on and had HOPE and some miraculous things happened because Paul continued to trust in God’s plan. Just ask your kids to tell you at least two things that happened! I bet they can!

Next Sunday promises to be just as miraculous as we’re taken back to the time of Lazarus to get a glimpse of how powerful God is. And when the kids can understand the power of God, they will know in their hearts that nothing is too hard for Him!
