God’s Family Encourages One Another in the Faith

January 31, 2012

Truth: God has created a spiritual family that provides hope, encouragement and protection from the onslaught of evil. When you commit to Christ He includes you in His church and provides you with a safe place to grow strong, to enjoy His abundance and to face the trials of life.

Scripture: “For this reason, when I could stand it no longer, I sent to find out about your faith. I was afraid that in some way the tempter might have tempted you and our efforts might have been useless.”  1 Thessalonians 3:5

Prayer: Gracious Father, Thank You for placing me in Your family. I know that the safest place I can be today is not only in Your presence, but also in the midst of Your people. Help me to honor You and Your church. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

One Year Bible Reading: Exodus 12:13-14:16, Matthew 20:29-21:22, Psalm 25:16-22, Proverbs 6:12-15

Propel This Wednesday 7PM

January 30, 2012

This week we will continue our series titled “Not That Into You”. This week’s discussion is:
When you’re not that into a relationship, you have a choice—to stay or to go. God has made it very clear in the Bible that He’s not going anywhere. He’s in. But we’re the ones who struggle with the choice, and that struggle sometimes involves fighting our own feelings and perceptions. It’s a fight that we have to be willing to take on, and a decision each of us has to make. And though it may feel like it, it’s not one-sided, God isn’t going anywhere. So are you going to fight your own tendencies to pull away? Are you going to fight for your relationship with God?

Important Dates to Remember for February:

See you on Wednesday at 7pm for Propel.

Love ya’ll,

Scripture: “For what is our hope, our joy, or the crown in which we will glory in the presence of our Lord Jesus when He comes?  Is it not you?  Indeed, you are our glory and joy.”  1 Thessalonians 2:19-20

Prayer:  Heavenly Father, I know that You created me to belong to a spiritual family.  Help me today to not draw away from others that follow you, but instead teach me to become a true friend, honoring and blessing those You have put in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God Rewards the Righteous

January 28, 2012

Truth: God has good things in store for those who love Him, who believe in and receive His son as their personal Savior.  When you choose to follow God’s ways, the power of His word and its wisdom will bring reward and benefit to your life.

Scripture: “And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is at work in you who believe.” 1 Thessalonians 2:13

Prayer:  Heavenly Father, Thank Your for blessing your children.  I know that when I choose to follow the plans that You have made for humankind, when I receive Your Son as my Savior and follow the truth of Your word – Your blessings will overflow from my life to others. Help me to live and walk out this abundant life.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God Opposes Evil

January 27, 2012

Truth: God is righteous, holy, pure and always good. He opposes evil and committed by His word to judge those who have chosen to live in opposition to His blessings.  Their sinful acts are adding up every day as evidence that will be used against them on Judgment Day.  But, when you choose God and His ways, He will reward you with blessing and new life in Christ.

Scripture:  “…in this way the always heap up their sins to the limit.  The wrath of God has come upon them at last.”  1 Thessalonians 2:15-16

Pray:  Merciful Father, I know that You have already laid out before all humankind the way to find hope and peace in You. I know that You will judge evil, but reward those who come to you in faith.  Help me today to be a witness of your Good News to those trapped in a lifestyle of selfish ambition, dysfunctional pain and other kinds of evil. Help me to share freedom in You.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

One Year Bible Reading: Exodus 4:1-5:21, Matthew 18:1-20, Psalm 22:19-31, Proverbs 5:15-21

God Wants You to Know You are in a Spiritual Battle

January 26, 2012

Truth:  You and I live in a spiritual battle zone.  The Bible says that our enemy, the Devil, prowls around like a roaring lion seeking to devour people!  Since the only power stronger than His evil is the power of God, when you choose to follow Jesus as Your savior, His spirit resides you and empowers you to live an overcoming life.

Scripture:  “…they displease God and are hostile to all men in order to keep us from speaking to the Gentiles so that they may be saved…”  1 Thessalonians 2:15

Prayer:  Almighty God, I know that there are people being used to disrupt Your kingdom and to interrupt Your flow of blessings. Help me today to find strength in You and to remember my spiritual battle is against other people, but against the powers darkness who must yield to Your authority. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Pray for the people of Bolivia. Many of the poor in that nation struggle to exist on a daily basis. Pray also for the indigenous tribes to find employment and to have increased opportunity to hear the Good News of Jesus.

God Establishes His Church to Be a Role Model

January 25, 2012

Truth:  God is near to His people. Like a shepherd who leads from among the sheep, God chosen to come and dwell among His people so that the world may see and experience His goodness.  When you choose to belong to local church – God’s chosen model – He will grant you experiences to grow from, wisdom to live by, and love to share with others.

Scripture: “For you, brothers, became imitators of God’s churches in Judea, which are in Christ Jesus:  You suffered from your own countrymen the same things those churches suffered from the Jews.”  1 Thessalonians 2:14

Prayer: Gracious Father, Thank You for loving me and caring for me enough to provide a roadmap for my present and my future.  I know that when I join together with other believers I learn more about You and Your ways, plus I am able to watch others walking out their faith. Help me to learn from other believers today and to offer to them the experiences that I have as well. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Propel Wednesday 7PM

January 24, 2012

Here is what we are talking about this Wednesday. I look forward to seeing you at Propel at 7pm.

NOT THAT INTO YOU
Every one of us has experienced it at some point. At one time, we were really into a relationship—whether that’s a friendship or a dating relationship—and now, well, not so much. We’re just not that into it anymore. So we walk away or we let the relationship die. But what happens when that relationship you’re not that into anymore is the one you have with God? You were really into Him at one point. You were feeling connected, directed, close. Now it feels like nothing. How do you deal with it?

Session One: The Breakup? (Wed Jan 24)
There is a natural ebb and flow to our relationships, isn’t there? There are times when we feel really close to someone, and times when we don’t. The reasons vary, but there are times when we’re just not feeling that into a relationship. It’s true of our friendships and other relationships, but what happens when it happens in our relationship with God? And when it does, why is it so difficult to admit it?

Love ya’ll and God Bless,
