God Invites You into His Destiny

September 30, 2010

Truth: God has a mission, a plan for this world and you play a key role in it!  Through His own choosing He has determined that each of us are a part of His body at work in the world (I Corinthians 12:27). Like an earthly father entrusts his children with increasing responsibility over time, so the Heavenly Father awaits you to be faithful in the smaller duties He has awarded so that He can expand your territory.

Scripture: Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things.  Come and share your Master’s happiness.” Matthew 25:21

Prayer: Dear Father, I thank You for placing me perfectly in Your kingdom’s plan.  Today, I make the commitment not to look at the work of others, or be distracted by the activity around me. I will begin here and now to be excellent, thorough and joyful about the work in front of me, knowing that as I bloom where I am, You will be faithful to increase the opportunities for me in the future.  Thank You for caring so much for me.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God Grants You the Ability to Produce Wealth

September 29, 2010

Truth: God is your Source, your Supply and desires to be your Priority.  You can be assured that the blessings that come from heaven are good!  They are bountiful and are intended for you to use to extend His blessings to others. Resist the temptation to think that you are somehow the ultimate recipient of God’s favor, rather than the conduit of His abundance in the earth (Isaiah 49:6,8).

Scripture: “Remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant.”  Deuteronomy 8:18

Prayer: Dear Father, I am so grateful for the goodness and blessings that You have directed toward me.  I ask that You would help me to remember that Your blessings come with a purpose. By receiving your blessings I choose today to share Your goodness with others and to invite them into Your covenant blessings.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

You Should Invest His Treasure

September 28, 2010

Truth: The riches of God come to those who don’t covet His gifts more than Him.  The “secret things” are found in repentance, forgiveness and through the indwelling of God’s Spirit in you. Be faithful today to carry out what has been entrusted to you.  Ask God for wisdom to provide for those around you, to invest for your future, your retirement, your children’s education and then to become generously faithful by holding all you have very lightly.

Scripture: “Men ought to regard us as servants of Christ and as those entrusted with the secret things of God.  Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful.” I Corinthians 4:1-2

Prayer: Dear Father in Heaven, I trust You to point me in the right direction in life.  Grant me wisdom to properly care for my family and my future, but to not grab on to things.  Instead help me to cling to You and your generous ways. In this I know I will find hope and peace in my world. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Tag You’re It!

September 27, 2010

The Greenbrier Women’s Ministry honors a very special woman in our church family at each quarterly event.  This past Saturday, we were pleased to honor our  Cathy McDaniel.  Read below to learn more about her from our Children’s Director, Sheri Gaughan.

“She’s sweet, she’s fun, she’s adventurous, she’s beautiful…an awesome mom and wife and friend.   She always has an “I can help with that!” on her lips…or better yet, it’s a comment like, “I would love to help make your event really great and let’s figure out how we can glorify God the very most in the process.”   She makes every thing she touches more fun and more meaningful just by being a part of it.   She’s not a sideline person…she has to be in the game where the action is…and she is involved in a lot of action!

She is here at the church at least 3…sometimes 4 days out of the week. Small Group Leader for Women, Worship Leader, PowerKid’s Teacher; her roles are varied and diverse!   But she approaches everything she does with such passion and such a love for our Lord…and with such a sweet and enthusiastic spirit. She is truly someone people of all ages love to be around.

She has played many fun roles in many church events…from Woody’s girlfriend Jessie to an Egyptian Celebration Leader…and she makes a very authentic cowgirl when she steps into that role because she really is one! And who can forget when she absolutely won all of our heart’s by playing the role of the mother of baby Jesus!

Our tag girl for this event is so deserving of this honor.   She works many tireless hours every week to create something special for SO MANY people in our church family.   So today the ladies of Greenbrier want to do something special for her and today we are honoring Cathy McDaniel. “

*Parent Update* New Sermon Series: Doubt; RRR Retreat Money Due!

September 27, 2010

Greetings Propel Parents!

We are so excited about how well our Wednesday night Propel meeting has been going! The student led worship team is doing a great job of leading us into God’s presence, Joe has been preaching the WORD with power, and the student led small groups are helping us all go deeper into God’s word. We have also been starting right at 7pm!! Yes, miracles can happen

This week we will begin a two-week series that deals directly with the issue of “DOUBT.” We will be talking about how to navigate through the tough questions that seem to linger in the back of our minds. The questions we hesitate to speak out loud, or admit we have. Questions like: “Does God hear me when I pray?” “Does He have a plan for my life?” “Does God really have everything under control?”

Often times we can begin to think we are alone in our doubt, and doubt can begin to cripple our faith. We want to teach our kids how to confront doubt and process their faith together through the word. We will learn how to leverage our doubt to strengthen our faith instead of paralyze it. Propel students will be encouraged as they learn that doubt paves the way to a deeper relationship with Jesus, because He is big enough to handle their questions, and secure enough to handle their uncertainty.

We would love for you to be apart of our “team” by praying for our Propel students over the next two weeks. Could please be praying that a spirit of faith would fill our small group time as our students confront doubt and pursue Gods truth? We greatly appreciate your prayer support as we encourage our students to make their faith their own!

Giving God’s Way Makes it Grow

September 27, 2010

Truth: God’s intention for you today is good. He is a good and generous God.  When you follow Him and yield what you have to Him, He begins to abundantly bless you beyond what you deserve. The secret to enjoying the abundant life is in giving away what never belonged to you in the first place. It is God’s not yours so after meeting your basic needs, bless someone else with it!

Scripture: “When the Lord your God brings you into the land He promised – a land with large, flourishing cities you did not build, houses filled with all kinds of good things you did not provide, be careful that you do not forget the Lord, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.” Deuteronomy 6:10-12

Prayer: Dear Lord, You have given me more than I deserve today.  I have eternal life in You and I see now that as I obey Your WORD You are over providing for me. Today I will start giving the extra away!  I anticipate Your joy flooding my soul as I choose to be rich toward You and giving toward others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

You Honor God when You Treat His Property with Care

September 26, 2010

Truth: Real value in life comes from the Giver.  God gave His Son for you, and when you receive Him you become His child (John 1:12). You then can bring honor to His possessions by choosing to focus on giving rather than greed. Choose to give it away today in simple ways. Buy lunch, coffee, groceries or a gift for someone else to reverse the curse of greed.

Scripture: “Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man’s life does not consist in the abundance of His possessions.” Luke 12:15

Prayer: Dear Lord, It is my desire to be rid of greed and the lure for more.  I know your prescription for me is to be generous, so help me to take a small but real step in the right direction.  Show me today what to give to someone else and release in me the joy in not expecting an earthly return.   This will bring honor to You and to what you own in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
