God is Strength

Truth: Discouragement, despair and loneliness are three weapons that the Enemy uses to drain you of emotional energy and strength.  But God has provided just the right tool guaranteed to destroy this work of the Devil – it is joy in God and his goodness. When you apply joy to your life sorrow, mourning and sadness disappear!

As you read the Scripture today, think of the words of Dan Baugh, Pastor of Lighthouse Baptist Church: “I am very well read in the Bible. I’ve read it many times before, but NEVER in 90 days. It seemed to bring everything together in a way as never before in my reading and in my study.”

Scripture: Our Scripture reading today is Nehemiah 1-12 and the key verse is: “Nehemiah said, ‘Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is sacred to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.’ Nehemiah 8:10

Prayer:  Everlasting God, Today I will reject the sadness and loneliness that often come when I think of the circumstances and responsibilities before me.  In their place I will place my hope in You and will recount with joy all of amazing work You have done.  The joy of the Lord is my strength.  In  Jesus’ name, Amen.
