Jesus Wants A Relationship with You

April 30, 2010

Truth:  The way to God has always been lined with good intentions, rules and a code of conduct that would qualify you to be in His presence. But the life and work of Jesus changed that. He took the initiative to start a relationship with you!  When you respond to His love and receive the forgiveness for all the wrong you have done, then God will make you brand new.

Scripture:  “The Jewish law had many commands and rules, but Christ ended the law. His purpose was to make the two groups of people become one new people in Him and in this way make peace.” Ephesians 2:15 (NCV)

Prayer:  Eternal Father, Thank You for ending the road of rules and regulations that always resulted in death.  You have brought those who had religion together with those of us who new nothing and made us brand new through the power of Your Son Jesus Christ.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God has the Power to Transform You

April 29, 2010

Truth:  God’s best for you is not just a minor adjustment or slight personal improvement. He desires to totally and completely replace the sadness and darkness of your heart with a brand new you that good, holy and that honors Him.

Scripture:  “But you were taught to be made new in your hearts, to become a new person. That new person is made to be like God – made to be truly good and holy.” Ephesians 4:23-24 (NCV)

Prayer:  Heavenly Father, You are filled with goodness and grace, mercy and truth.  Help me today to receive a brand new, fresh start by yielding my mind and heart to You.  I ask You to reign in my heart and transform me into something good and holy. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Jesus is the Way to God

April 28, 2010

Truth:  Many people like to include or even add rules and rituals to the simple and powerful faith that God offers each of us. These needless traditions form a heavy weight on our shoulders that make it difficult to walk down God’s path of new life.  But Jesus’ way is simple.

Scripture:  “It is not important if a man is circumcised or uncircumcised. The important thing is being the new people God made.” Galatians 6:15 (NCV)

Prayer:  Loving and Faithful God.  Thank You for providing a simple and guaranteed way into Your presence. We no longer need to follow certain rituals, eat specific foods or dress and act a certain way to experience You.  Help me to walk in the newness of life that I receive when You cleanse my heart and make me new.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Jesus Makes All Things Brand New

April 27, 2010

Truth:  There is no gradual sense of redemption or rescue with Jesus Christ.  His sacrificial death on the cross and His resurrection grant Him the power to make us brand new on the inside.  Your choice is to receive this new life and to belong to Him.

Scripture:  “If anyone belongs to Christ, there is a new creation. The old things have gone; everything is made new!” 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NCV)

Prayer: Heavenly Father, Today I am grateful that You have forgiving and cleansing power to make me brand new. Thank You for erasing the bad deeds of my past and creating a new path for me to walk.  I will cling to the new life You have brought to me – now and forever.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Jesus Brings New Life

April 26, 2010

Truth:  The old way of doing the right things required the ability to remember and follow a big list of commands.  Those who kept the “do’s” and didn’t commit the “don’t’s” were shown the path to eternal life.  Unfortunately, since none of us are, by nature, good we were all found guilty.  That’s when God intervened.

Scripture:  “He is the one who has enabled us to represent his new covenant. This is a covenant, not of written laws, but of the Spirit. The old way ends in death; in the new way, the Holy Spirit gives life.” (2 Corinthians 3:6)  NLT

Prayer:  Heavenly Father, Today is the right time to begin something new.  Help me to stop living under the guilt of a system that measures my heart with a long list of commands.  Instead, help me to receive the gift of grace You have offered through Your Son, Jesus and live with His strength to please You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

a-case-for-coupons-coupons1Are you interested in saving money and reducing your grocery and household spending? The Greenbrier Women’s Ministry is hosting a special workshop on saving money through couponing! Come and learn how you can cut your grocery bill in half!

Our special speakers will be Leigh and Andrea, members of Hickory Ridge Community Church. These ladies teach this course on a regular basis and are offering this workshop as a ministry to us. Come learn their secrets and how they have been able to save hundreds of dollars per month on their household spending using these methods!

Whether you have a lot of time or only a limited amount of time to spend on money-saving methods, this workshop will help you identify how you can stretch your dollars by using coupons most effectively.

In preparation, please begin collecting all the coupons you can (a great source is the Sunday paper) and bring them organized/sorted to the workshop.

This is a great outreach opportunity as well! Please think of other women you know that may benefit from this information and invite them to come!

Light refreshments will be served. We’ll also have a short devotional and a door prize!

We look forward to having you attend!

Outreach/Sewing Small Group to help rescue girls from human trafficking

April 20, 2010

Sewing machineThe women of Greenbier have an opportunity to use their time, talent, and treasure in a practical way right here in our own neighborhood to make an impact on human trafficking in Nepal. A small group is being formed that is focused on making simple and trendy dresses to sell and raise money and awareness of human trafficking in Nepal.

Who may be interested:

Women and teenage girls who enjoy sewing, making crafts and have a heart to help rescue and transform the lives of the Nepali girls.  (Not completely necessary to have a sewing machine, there are so many jobs we can do to prepare for those who do have a sewing machine.)

What:
During our times of sewing we will center our conversations around topics selected from the book Experiencing God by Henry Blackaby where we will be challenged to live for the purpose of a love relationship with the Father and simple obedience to His will and way.  Through this God can use the ordinary to do the extraordinary.

We will also take time to pray for the ministry in Nepal devoted to rescuing, the girls who have been rescued, and the women of Greenbrier who are called to go and minister.

When:
One Saturday a month from May until November, 2010
If you would like to help, whether in donating a few sewing supplies, sewing or embroidering a few garments or in marketing and branding the finished product, please call (295.7474) or email Stacy Busby.    There is a place for all who are interested no matter how big or small the contribution of time, talent, and treasure.
For more information, there will be a short interest meeting at the church this coming Wednesday night, April 21 at 8:15 p.m. in the church conference room (please let the Wednesday night women’s small group finish before entering).
