Exhort One Another

February 21, 2010

Truth:  God has designed the human heart to be strengthened by exhortation. Each of us needs to hear each and every day the positive hopeful words of others.  And in turn, we ought to focus our words on exhorting others to become what God has designed them to be.

Scripture:  “But exhort one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.” (Hebrews 3:13)

Prayer: Heavenly Father, Your word is a divine encouragement to me. Help me today to focus my words to exhort, build up and encourage others to follow hard after You and to find their hope and future in You.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Build Up One Another

February 20, 2010

Truth:  Your words have the power to change the tone of a conversation and bring hope even the most discouraged friend.  God has designed each of us to receive words that build as foundation stones of hope and joy that will resist and withstand the storms of life.

Scripture:  “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” (I Thessalonians 5:11)

Prayer:  Heavenly Father, Your words are true and feed my spirit with hope and joy.  I ask for your help today to build up those around me with kind words of encouragement and gentle words of blessing.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Encourage One Another

February 19, 2010

Truth:  Words have incredible power. They can brighten the heart of the most discouraged soul the power or work to destroy even the strongest mindset. Perhaps this is why we are instructed to encourage and build up one another.

Scripture:  “Encourage one another with these words.” (1 Thessalonians 4:18)

Prayer:  Heavenly Father, I know that have encouraging words have had a powerful impact in my life.  Help me to focus today on the words that I do choose. I desire to be encouraging in my conversation and lift up others with my words.  In Jesus’ name, Amen

Teach One Another

February 18, 2010

Truth: God’s word has the power to transform Your life. The good news is that He has placed the power of His word into the hearts and minds of believers. When God’s people commit to be for one another, helping each other to grow and learn, then the power of God’s word brings wisdom.

Scripture:  “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.” (Colossians 3:16)

Prayer:  Gracious Father, thank You placing the truth and power Your word in the hearts and minds of those who follow You.  Help me to be a learner and to seek Your wisdom in others.  May Your grace grow in me today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Be Truthful toward One Another

February 17, 2010

Truth:  Telling the truth is always the best solution.  Telling lies for self-protection always damages the trust that is vital for any relationship to succeed.  Even when it seems that the “truth will hurt,” it is always the wisest, safest and best response.

Scripture:  “Do not lie to each other.” (Colossians 3:9)

Prayer:  Heavenly Father, Today I confess to you that I have not been truthful.  Rather than honestly admit who I am to You and to others I have chosen instead to craft words that I hope will make me look better. I now understand that lying removes me from the cover of your blessing. Please forgive me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Submit to One Another

February 16, 2010

Truth: God has designed each of us to be inter-dependent with one another.  We learn the most, do the best, and navigate the future the easiest when we make the decision to mutually submit to one another out of reverence for the one who created us.

Scripture:  “Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.” (Ephesians 5:21)

Prayer:  Heavenly Father, Today I ask for your strength to help honor and submit my plans, intentions and ideas to others.  I admit that I often inter-twine my own need for approval with the ideas that I hold on to and then fight for my own ways to succeed. Forgive me, and help me instead to learn to live in healthy relationships that mutually submit to one another.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Forgive One Another

February 15, 2010

Truth:  God is a forgiving God.  He begins each day with You ready to forgive, to clean the slate and to start over.  He loves you that much.  AND, He wants you to demonstrate His love to others by forgiving them.  No excuses, just forgiveness.

Scripture:  “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other just as in Christ God forgave you.” (Ephesians 4:32)

Prayer: Gracious and Merciful Father. You are a God of love and forgiveness. Even when I did not deserve it, Today, I want to extend this love to others by forgiving those who have caused hurt, pain and difficulty in my own life.  Help me to be free from the bondage of clinging to the pain of sin and to experience the freedom that comes with forgiveness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
