Small Groups @ Greenbrier – August 16th and 23rd

It is that time of year! We will be launching our Small Groups @ Greenbrier over the next two Sundays, August 16th and 23rd. Three out of four adults join a small group each year. Small Groups are a place for our members and attendees to “plug in” to what God is doing in our midst. It says in Hebrews 10:25, “Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another-and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
Life is filled with God’s blessings so why not share it with others. We want to be known in our community as a church that loves God and one another. A great place to do both is in Small Groups.
Life is about relationships. At Greenbrier, we want to do life together. Being part of a network of good friends can provide one with the strength, confidence, and joy needed to carry out our personal and corporate callings in Christ. We all need to be in relationship and fellowship with God and each other.
Here’s the challenge: 1) check out all the small groups offered @ Greenbrier in the booklet provided on August 16th; 2) choose the top three small groups you’d like to attend; 3) come find out more about the groups on August 16th and 23rd from 10:30 am to 11:00 am in the Fellowship Hall; 4) pick one, sign up, make new friends, and grow in your walk with God!

Back to School Bash

We are asking YOU to help us bless a child! This Sunday you will have the opportunity to choose a registered child’s BTS profile card. We are asking that you buy the listed school supplies and place them in a backpack. Please return your filled backpack by Sunday, August 9th.
Water Baptism Class
Sunday August 23rd – 10:30 AM Conference Room
If you are planning on being baptized at our Church at the Beach celebration on August 30th, we ask that you attend the water baptism class. Contact Karen at 819-1070 or karenlohman@greenbrierchurch.com to reserve your space.

Bounty Day
August 23rd – 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM
Bounty Intake: Monday August 17th – Friday August 21st.
Bounty Day is an opportunity to bless other family in our congregation with item you would like to recieve. Please remember this is not a Flea Market but a chance to bless others (and be blessed) with items you no longer need or use.
Church @ the Beach
Sunday August 30th – 10:00 AM
We will be going to the beach for our church service on Sunday, August 26th, at 10:00AM. We will be at the 31st street stage at Virginia Beach. After a great time together we will be going to the beach for an ocean baptism, so bring your lawn chair and plenty of sunscreen and join us for a great time of family fun.
Park in the garage across the street from the Hilton. Cost is $7 for the entire day.
Women’s Ministry Fall Retreat
Friday and Saturday September 18th and 19th.
Silver Beach Retreat Center on the Eastern Shore,cost is $95 installments welcome. Contact Kelly Neklason for more information.

I hope you enjoy this song by Steve Fee (from the band “Fee”), it is called “Glory to God”. I actually received this from Pastor Eric last week! I think I have listened to it about 100X since then… Check out Psalm 108, I love how it says, “Let your glory be over all the earth.” This song does a great job of putting all the focus on declaring God’s Glory and how we can offer ourselves as an offering.

We have a great retreat planned for fellowship, spiritual refreshing and teachings. We have two activities to choose from – kayaking or the challenge course!
