God Demands Complete Devotion

July 24, 2009

God is the one who has placed you right where you are, precisely because He wants you to experience victory in every area your life.  He knows about every  battle and He also knows how to achieve victory over every evil attack.  What does God demand from You?  Devotion to the King of Kings and the Mighty Warrior.

Scripture:  “They devoted the city to the Lord.” (Joshua 6:21)

Prayer:  God, You are the Mighty Warrior and the Prince of Peace. I know that You are strong enough to defeat evil in my life and destroy the works of wickedness around me.  And You will bring eternal peace to my surroundings.  I will devote every part of my being to You and yield to Your wisdom  in all my relationships.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God Erases Our Past When We Dedicate Our Future to Him

July 22, 2009

God is the only one who can erase the troubles and mistakes of the past.  When Joshua and the children of Israel whole-heartedly agreed to follow God, God himself erased their sin.  No one but God can forgive your sin!

Scripture: “Then the Lord said to Joshua, ‘Today I have rolled away the reproach of Egypt from you.’” (Joshua 5:9)

Prayer:  Heavenly Father, Today I commit to Your ways and dedicate myself to walking out each conversation and decision in light of Your word.  I thank You that You will erase the sin and problems of my past and will grant me a fresh start in my relationship with You.  In Jesus’ name, Amen

Monday night update!

July 21, 2009

Just a reminder – and an invitation.  We will soon start a new summer series consisting of sample teachings of some of the best women Bible teachers and leaders today.  What a great way to get to hear what God is doing through women’s ministries across our country.  Better yet, it’s a great opportunity to get together with new and old friends right here at Greenbrier!
Following a 2 week break, the series will start fresh on Monday, August 3, and continues for 6 weeks. There is no homework involved, just a short DVD and a time of discussion and prayer.
We begin promptly at 6:30 in the church conference room (beside the church offices) and end at 8:30 sharp. We have been so blessed by our Monday night gatherings for some time now and pray that God will lead you to come out and become part of what He is doing among women in our fellowship.  All that’s missing is you!

God does His work so You will tell His Story

July 21, 2009

God does the impossible every time.  When you take a step of obedience toward Him, He creates a path for you even when it seems that you are lost or trapped and there is no way out. When you are at a dead end, God will do His work so you can remember His greatness and His love for you.

Scripture: “These stories are to be a memorial to the people of Israel forever.” (Joshua 4:7)

Prayer:  Heavenly Father, thank You for working amazing miracles in my life.  I know that when confusion and difficulty come my way I will trust you to do the impossible.  Your miracle working power will stand like a memorial to my family and friends. In Jesus’ name, Amen

God Joins You on the Second Step

July 20, 2009

God is ready to meet you on the second step. He has already promised to lead and guide you in every way, BUT you need to take the first step toward him.  When you do, He will never let you walk alone.

Scripture:  “As soon as the priests who carried the ark reached the Jordan River and their feet touched the water’s edge, the water from upstream stopped flowing.” (Joshua 3:15-16)

Prayer:  Eternal Father, Today I take my first step toward You. You have already promised so much to me and I know that I need to obey your word and to walk according to your ways. Meet me God, as I obey and show me your abundant goodness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God Exalts Leaders who Obey

July 19, 2009

God gives us free choices to make every day. But he has already pre-determined the consequences to our decisions.  When we obey we are blessed, when we disobey we are cursed.  Simple.

Scripture:  “And the Lord said to Joshua, ‘Today I will begin to exalt you in the eyes of all Israel, so that they may know I am with you as I was with Moses.” (Joshua 3:7)

Prayer:  Almighty God, today I am submitting to Your divine plan.  I know that you grant me many choices every day.  Opportunities to do well, to obey, or even to walk away from what I know is right.  You have also outlined very clearly the consequences of obedience and disobedience. Help me to choose to obedience and blessing from you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God Expects Purity and Perseverance

July 18, 2009

God’s plan for abundant blessing comes with a requirement. You and I must wholly dedicate ourselves to His plans and His ways.  When we radically commit to Him – He radically commits to us and amazing things happen!

Scripture:  “Consecrate yourselves for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among us.” (Joshua 3:5)

Prayer:  Heavenly Father, thank you for the privilege of walking through life with you.  Help me to completely dedicate my thoughts, actions and behavior today to you.  I know that when I do, I can expect to see amazing God-things happen in my life.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
