The Best Way
April 30, 2009
There is a single purpose that is designed to demonstrate to the entire world that Jesus Christ is the Redeemer of humankind. It is also the “sign” that others will know if someone is following Jesus as a disciple. That purpose and sign is a commitment of love one to another.
“Love one another as I have loved you. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.“ (John 13:34-35)
Eternal Father, Help me to find practical ways today to show my love to you by loving others. I will turn away from selfish practices and choose instead to bless others ahead of own needs and desires. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
There is a Better Way
April 29, 2009
God’s plan for you is perfect. He knows every detail of your past, understands your present circumstance and foresees your future. He created it all and he has carved a path out for your success. The better way is just one word: love.
“Love one another as I have loved you. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.“ (John 13:34-35)
Heavenly Father, Teach me to trust you today. I know that your plans for me are good and for my benefit. Help me to learn to express my love for you by choosing to love others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Submission Brings Peace
April 28, 2009
God’s plan for you includes more learning from Him and from leading others down His path. Real peace comes when you balance your own responsibility to lead with an equal responsibility to follow. God has designed a spiritual authority in your life to help you become more like him.
“He gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.” (Ephesians 4:1-12)
Dear Father, I trust you today. Help me to understand those whom you have put in my life. Help me to be a learner and to open my heart and mind to those who have been put into my life to help me become more like you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Lead in the Right Direction
April 27, 2009
God’s intention is for you to lead others in the right direction. Not only are his plans perfect and for your good, but they also have the added benefit of using you as an instrument of his amazing handiwork.
“He gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.” (Ephesians 4:1-12)
Heavenly Father, Today I ask to be given and increased leadership responsibility in your church. I realize that this means that there are certain character qualities in me that you want to improve and I give you permission to mold me and transform me further into your image. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Build Others First
April 26, 2009
Leadership in God’s World is not about getting ahead or proving that you are worth more than the next person. Jesus modeled a life that put others first and served those around him so that they would excel in life. We should build others like Jesus did.
“He gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.” (Ephesians 4:1-12)
Dear Father, I ask today that you would help me to shift the focus of my attention away from personal success and toward helping others to achieve all that you have designed for them. Teach me to humble myself that others might see your kindness in me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
It’s Time to Do Right
April 25, 2009
Living out God’s best requires that you do what is right every time. Even when other’s actions are evil, you are to be careful to do right and to live at peace with others.
“Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.”
(Romans 12:16-18)
Dear Father, Today I will choose to do what is right. Even when others may respond in ways that are hurtful I commit to follow you and spread your peace to those around you. I will trust you to lead down the right path. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Practice Hospitality
April 24, 2009
God’s ways are perfect. Every time. Instead of demanding that you become an expert in the Bible, he simply asks you to humbly open your home and your life to others. When you demonstrate your love for God and others you shine the brightest.
“Share with God’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.” (Romans 12:13)
Lord, Today I will choose to open up my heart and my life for others. Help me not to become overly concerned that I would have the perfect answers or impress others. Instead, use me to share your love with others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
