God Protects You from Evil
February 28, 2009
God always guards those who are faithful to his word and his ways. He promises to personally deliver you from evil. Every time. You can depend on God’s love to rescue you from evil.
“Let those who love the Lord hate evil, for he guards the lives of his faithful ones and delivers them from the hand of the wicked.” (Psalms 97:10)
God, you are my Rescuer. Whenever I am afraid, or ashamed you come to my defense. Today I will be bold in my faith and fearless in front of my enemies. Help me to not be concerned about my reputation or defend myself, but instead to love you and those around me with the confidence you bring. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
God Keeps us from Falling
February 27, 2009
Everyday, before you get up, God is at work to make sure that you do not slip, stumble or fall. He goes in front of you to lead the way, walks beside you to comfort you each step and follows behind to insure that you are safe. God is there for you.
“When I said, ‘My foot is slipping,’ your love, O Lord, supported me.” (Ps 94:18)
You are my Protector, God. I will walk confidently today, knowing that your love surrounds me. I trust you to lead and guide me along my journey and to insure that I will not stumble. I will follow you today and find peace and comfort in your love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
God is Slow to Anger and Quick to Love
February 26, 2009
God is compassionate, gracious and understands where you are. He has more than enough love and faithfulness to carry your burdens and heal your pain. Even when you do wrong he is slow to anger.
“O Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.” (Ps 86:15)
Dear Father, How much I need your love today. Thank you for always extending your grace and faithfulness to me. Help me in my own actions to honor your word and to please you. You, Lord, are my Savior and my Redeemer. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
God Forgives
February 25, 2009
God is good. Always. Regardless of your own conduct God stands ready to forgive and cleanse you from all wrongdoing. He promises to extend his love to you when you call on him.
“You are forgiving and good, O Lord, abounding in love to all who call to you.” (Ps 86:5)
Loving and Merciful Father, I completely trust in You. Today I will confess to you my shortcomings, my weaknesses and my failures. Your cleansing blood will forgive me and cleanse me from all unrighteousness. Thank you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Pass the Broccoli
February 24, 2009
In one of his devotions, Max Lucado points out that we have days when we seem to be blessed at every turn. Our plate is full and God keeps bringing more good food. Then there are those days when we must eat our broccoli from a plate filled with less pleasant offerings. How true this is. I immediately went back in my mind to a couple of good food days and a couple of broccoli days. Memories of the good days bring a smile, but I have to admit real growth in my life did not happen on those days.
The focus of a recent meeting I attended turned to the need for regular accountability and evaluation from above and below. The discussion suggested a need for constant evaluation from those we lead and from those who lead us. One person boldly said I really want that kind of evaluation; shouldn’t every Christian want honest and open feedback? I don’t remember the statement getting much of a response. How many of us honestly relish being scrutinized? We do like being complimented and affirmed, but not examined and evaluated.
How many times has the plate life serves up been filled with those unpleasant situations that force deep scrutiny of motives and attitudes. Living becomes much simpler once we learn life’s plate of unpleasant food is so rich in nutrients that only a few bites give enough energy to run through a troop and leap over a wall? Cake is sweet, but cake is insufficient fuel for fighting the good fight and finishing the race. Lord, help us understand how those things unpleasant are allowing us to see ourselves as you see us that we might be strengthened for the journey to which we are called.

God is the Protector
February 24, 2009
God rescues those who honor him, and surrounds those who love Him with protection. When you acknowledge as Creator and the One above every circumstance and obstacle, God will keep you from harm.
“Because he loves me, ” says the LORD, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.” (Psalms 91:14)
Father in Heaven, Today I choose to hide in you. I will honor you above the trouble around me and depend on you through every circumstance. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
God ‘s Love Points to Life
February 23, 2009
God’s ways are perfect and have your best in mind. He will show the way of life and joy in his presence for those who choose to receive his love. There is incredible pleasure reserved for those who desire to live with God!
“You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever.” (Ps. 57:11)
Heavenly Father, today I ask that you would show me the way of life and grant to me the joy of your presence. May your love overflow into my spirit and show me the pleasures of your ways. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God Listens
February 22, 2009
God always listens. He never turns away from you or deafens his ears to your cry. He turns toward his children with love and mercy always wanting what is best for you. Speak to God knowing that he hears.
“I love the Lord, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy. Because he turned his ear to me, I will call on him as long as I live.” (Psalm 116:1-2)
Eternal Father, You are in heaven on your throne and in charge, but you are so big that you are also right here listening to me cry out to you. Here me today as I share my burdens, admit my short comings and dream of a better day when your peace rules my entire day. I need your presence and your comfort today. Thank you for hearing me and responding to my cry. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
